MAKE THE MOST OF VIRTUAL CONFERENCES

7 TIPS TO HELP MAKE THE MOST OF VIRTUAL CONFERENCES

Unlike in-person conferences, virtual conferences require a different kind of focus. To better serve our clients and colleagues who plan to attend JP Morgan’s Healthcare Conference next month, our Headland Strategy team would like to share some useful tips. We have gathered these from internal learnings and marketing gurus within the industry to help your team make the most out of this highly anticipated virtual event.

Tip #1: Familiarize yourself with the platform

It helps to spend an hour or two before the event clicking around the platform to familiarize yourself with the various layouts of booths, breakout rooms, and attendee profiles.

Tip #2: Build your profile

Taking time to upload your picture and fill out your attendee profile will help others connect with you more efficiently and lead to more productive conversations in breakout sessions.

Tip #3: Deck out your booth

A robust booth can create a memorable experience for potential partners. Embedding videos, uploading presentations, and providing downloadable content encourages other attendees to interact with your team. Most online platforms track these interactions and can be useful data points for strategic follow-up messaging after the conference.

Tip #4: Teamwork makes the dream work

Divide and conquer overlapping keynote sessions to cover as much ground as possible. Aligning on a time to catch up and discuss key takeaways or observations from each session can be great for team building and education.

Tip #5: Network, network, network

Networking at virtual conferences may require a bit more effort and creativity but it is necessary and can help you stand out. Don’t hesitate to venture outside the conference platform and engage with prospective contacts on LinkedIn or other professional networking platforms.

Tip #6: Strategically attend live and on-demand sessions

It is important to recognize sessions that require live attendance versus on-demand sessions that can be viewed at a more convenient time. Prioritizing your time can help ensure attentiveness and engagement throughout the event.

Tip #7: Practice self-care

Get up and stretch! Self-care has become increasingly important since the pandemic began and the risk of health issues resulting from a sedentary lifestyle are at an all-time high. Take advantage of the flexibility that comes along with virtual attendance by putting in headphones and listening to a keynote session or two while you grab some fresh air.

We hope that you can use these best practices to get the most out of the 40th annual J.P Morgan Health Conference in January!

Happy holidays and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
